What To Expect

Step 1: Choose Your Treatment Option & Complete Intake

Start by selecting your preferred treatment option (injection, topical cream, or oral troches), then complete our secure medical intake form. This helps our clinical team understand your symptoms, medical history, and treatment goals.

Billing begins upon signup, as we immediately begin administrative, clinical review, onboarding, and care coordination processes.

If lab work is required, you will receive instructions after completing intake. We also accept recent results from accredited labs, provided they meet our clinical requirements and recency guidelines.

Step 2: Lab Review, Doctor Evaluation & Consultation

Once your lab results are received, a licensed provider will review your labs and medical history to determine whether TRT is clinically appropriate.

If you are approved to move forward, you will receive access to schedule your telehealth consultation. During the consultation, your provider will discuss your treatment plan, explain what to expect, and answer any questions prior to prescribing medication.

Step 3: Start Your Treatment

Once prescribed, your medication and any required supplies will be shipped directly to your door.

Depending on pharmacy availability, some patients may receive larger-volume supplies upfront (for example, a 90-day supply), while billing continues on the standard subscription cadence. Your subscription covers ongoing physician oversight, clinical support, lab coordination, compliance management, and continued access to care—not solely medication shipments.

What is testosterone?

Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone and plays a key role in regulating sex drive, fat storage and metabolism, red blood cell production, and mood. When testosterone levels are too low, testosterone replacement therapy may be needed to restore them to a healthy range for your age.

How does testosterone replacement therapy work?

TRT supplements the body's natural testosterone levels when they are insufficient due to conditions such as hypogonadism (low testosterone production). At Ulo, we use only FDA-approved medications or custom-compounded prescriptions from certified 503(a) compounding pharmacies or 503(b) outsourcing facilities.

What is testosterone prescribed for?

Testosterone is prescribed to treat low testosterone levels, support normal male development, and manage a condition called hypogonadism, which occurs when the body doesn’t produce enough testosterone.

Possible side effects

Possible side effects may include a decrease in spermiogenesis (less sperm cell production), however most patients report no concern about this. Talk to your provider for a full list of possible side effects for the treatment that you are prescribed.

Got questions? We have answers.

Yes. Providers require lab results before initiating TRT. Ulo will issue a lab requisition so you can complete the required testing at one of our partnered labs. There is no upfront cost, and the initial labs and all necessary follow-up bloodwork are included in your membership.

Yes. To upload your own lab results, they must meet Ulo's criteria. They should be issued by an accredited lab like Quest or LabCorp, include the four required tests (total testosterone, hematocrit, PSA, and LH), and be performed within the last 3 months without testosterone supplementation.

No. TRT is a prescription medication that is only appropriate for men with labs that show hormone levels meeting established clinical thresholds, clear symptoms of hypogonadism, and no exclusionary risk factors. Based on your labs, symptoms, or medical history, your physician may determine that you do not qualify for a prescription. In such cases, alternative treatments or strategies may be discussed.

The timeline varies based on how quickly you complete your intake, get labs done, and schedule your consultation. If you already have qualifying labs, the process moves faster. Upon approval, prescriptions are typically shipped within a week. After treatment initiation, TRT is generally an ongoing process with a long-term commitment for sustained results.

Between appointments, Ulo's clinical team and support staff are available via secure messaging or telehealth calls during business hours. You can reach out anytime with questions about your treatment, symptoms, or lab results.

Yes. You can pause or cancel your treatment at any time. If stopping for medical reasons, your provider may recommend a supervised approach to help your natural testosterone production recover. There are no cancellation fees or long-term contracts. Resuming treatment at a later time will require new lab screenings and a medical evaluation.

No. Under current telehealth rules, Ulo can evaluate and prescribe testosterone entirely through remote consultations. Everything, from your initial evaluation to ongoing follow-up, can be conducted via telehealth. Ulo operates in compliance with federal telehealth guidelines to ensure that you can continue receiving safe and effective remote care.

Your provider reviews your latest lab results, discusses your symptoms, and assesses whether the treatment is working. They may make any necessary adjustments to your protocol. Follow-ups are included in your treatment cost.
