Questions

About our liposomal formulas.

How the formulations work, and how to choose the right option for you.

How are liposomal formulas different from Ulo's other topicals?

Our liposomal topicals are formulated with the same active ingredients in a gentle, moisturizing liposomal gel. They are a phospholipid-based system without propylene glycol or alcohol and designed to target active medications to the follicle.

Finasteride or dutasteride?

Both lower DHT, the hormone linked to hair thinning. Finasteride blocks type II 5-alpha reductase. Dutasteride blocks both type I and type II, for broader DHT coverage.

Your provider will help you decide which fits your goals and history.

Will the low dose still work?

Low-concentration formulas are intended to offer another way to personalize treatment, particularly for people concerned about systemic exposure. However, a lower concentration doesn't guarantee the absence of systemic exposure.

Should I add minoxidil?

Finasteride and dutasteride reduce DHT, the primary hormonal driver of pattern hair loss, while minoxidil stimulates hair growth. Studies show combination approaches can produce better results in some individuals, however individual results may vary.

Why does propylene glycol matter?

Propylene glycol is the solvent used in most minoxidil solutions. In a study of people who reacted to topical minoxidil, propylene glycol, not minoxidil itself, was the cause in most cases.¹ All Ulo's topical formulas are made without sensitizing, potentially irritating propylene glycol.
