Your provider will review your information, confirm your prescription, and address your inquiries.

Once approved, the prescription will be sent to the pharmacy, who'll compound and ship your treatment straight to your door.

Ingredients

Dutasteride (0.2%)

Dutasteride is even more powerful than finasteride, blocking DHT with unmatched potency. Six month studies suggest that oral dutasteride delivers 30-40% more hair gains than finasteride, which is why this powerhouse ingredient is included in select Ulo topicals for unparalleled results.

Minoxidil (7%)

Minoxidil is a vasodilator that boosts the supply of blood, oxygen, and nutrients to hair follicles. Clinical studies on minoxidil show new hair growth can appear as quickly as 3 months, with hair counts remaining above baseline even after five years. While topical minoxidil is FDA-approved at 2 and 5% solutions, Ulo’s topicals feature minoxidil concentrations up to 7%.

Evidence-backed solutions

Dual DHT inhibition. Stronger results.

Dutasteride inhibits both type I and type II 5-alpha reductase enzymes, blocking up to 98% of DHT production, compared to finasteride's inhibition of type II alone.3 Clinical studies comparing the two medications have found greater improvements in hair growth with dutasteride.2

In a real-world study of patients on recommended doses, a significantly greater proportion of those taking dutasteride experienced an improvement in hair loss compared to those taking finasteride.

Your liposomal base goes one step further, concentrating dutasteride in the follicle opening where DHT does its damage.

The power of a combined approach

Androgenetic alopecia isn’t driven by a single process, so the most effective protocols address it on two fronts at once — slowing the hormonal trigger (DHT) while actively stimulating regrowth. That’s the principle behind pairing a DHT blocker with minoxidil.

In a head-to-head trial, a topical 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor combined with minoxidil produced a markedly higher response rate than minoxidil alone.

Your liposomal base goes one step further, concentrating dutasteride in the follicle opening where DHT does its damage.

  1. Asad N, Naseer M, Ghafoor R. Efficacy of topical finasteride 0.25% with minoxidil 5% versus topical minoxidil 5% alone in treatment of male pattern androgenic alopecia. J Drugs Dermatol. 2024;23(11):1003-1008.

Illustrative comparison. The referenced study used topical finasteride at a different concentration, not Ulo's dutasteride formulation. It is shown to illustrate why combining a DHT blocker with minoxidil (a multi-targeted approach) outperforms minoxidil alone in androgenetic alopecia, not to represent the efficacy of this specific product.

  • A small portion of users may notice hair shedding. This is a temporary, positive sign: newer, more robust hairs are replacing older, thinner ones
  • Better-looking hair is just around the corner

Months 4–6: Regrowth becomes visible

Follicles that have been reactivated display visible regrowth.

  • Fresh growth along the hairline and crown
  • Thin spots start looking fuller
  • Hair feels thicker and easier to manage

Months 6+: Results keep building

Continued use strengthens and maintains regrowth.

  • Results continue to build months 9-12
  • Visual improvements peak at 18-24 months
  • Continued use helps protect the progress you’ve made

FAQ

Questions about our liposomal formulas

How the formulations work, and how to choose the right option for you.

How is this different from Ulo's other topical dutasteride?

Our liposomal topicals are formulated with the same active ingredients in a gentle, moisturizing liposomal gel. They are a phospholipid-based system without propylene glycol or alcohol and designed to target active medications to the follicle.

Will the low dose still work?

Low-concentration formulas are intended to offer another way to personalize treatment, particularly for people concerned about systemic exposure. However, a lower concentration doesn't guarantee the absence of systemic exposure.

Should I add minoxidil?

Dutasteride reduces DHT, the primary hormonal driver of pattern hair loss, while minoxidil stimulates hair growth. Studies show combination approaches can produce better results in some individuals, however individual results may vary.

Can I switch formulas later?

Yes. If your response, tolerability, or preferences change, contact us at [email protected]. Our care team can help you decide how to make changes to your protocol so it best suits your needs.
